Mullet scares a lot of people (they think it will taste "fishy"), but it's actually mild tasting white meat fish with a great flaky texture. If you can get it, it's worth giving it a try.
Ingredients - Sriracha Tahini Sauce
- 1/2 cup tahini
- 1/4 cup hot water
- 1/4 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce
Ingredients - Chicken Fried Mullet
- 4 mullet fillets
- 3/4 Cup All Purpose Flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- Salt and Pepper
- Cayenne pepper
- 2 lemons cut into wedges.
Instructions - Sriracha Tahini Sauce
- Mix tahini with hot water until consistent.
- Add lemon juice, olive oil, and sriracha. Mix well. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Instructions - Chicken Fried Mullet
- Season both sides of fish fillets with salt, pepper, and cayenne (to taste).
- Dredge seasoned fish fillets in flour.
- Dip fish fillets in egg mixture.
- Dredge fish fillets in flour again.
- Heat oil in a skillet over high heat.
- Once oil reaches temperature, add fillets. Cook approximately 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Serve with Sriracha Tzatziki Sauce and lemon wedges.
